Assistive Technology & Digital Accessibility Features

Screen Reader & Multilingual Support

Compatible with Apple VoiceOver, NVDA, JAWS, and Android TalkBack. All Gurmukhi (Punjabi) scripture and headings carry explicit lang="pa" attributes so screen readers switch pronunciation engines accurately without garbling sacred text.

High-Contrast Visual Palette (AAA Ratio)

Our primary Surmai Navy (#1B2744) on warm Ivory (#FAF6EE) achieves a 12.8:1 contrast ratio, surpassing both WCAG AA (4.5:1) and WCAG AAA (7:1) thresholds for visitors with low vision, cataracts, or colour blindness.

Full Keyboard-Only Navigation

Every page includes a “Skip to main content” link for keyboard and switch-device users. Interactive galleries, lightboxes, and navigation menus support Tab, Enter, Esc, and arrow keys.

Audio Gurbani & Descriptive Alt Text

For blind and vision-impaired Sangat members, live Kirtan streams, SGPC audio Hukamnamas, and spoken Sakhis (stories) are available directly in the browser, and all community archive photographs carry descriptive alternative text.
